Michelle Benavidez Mural

The portrait mural, located in Sacramento, CA near the corner of Arden and Del Paso Blvd, painted by famed mural artist Shane Grammer of Shane Grammer Arts, depicts Michelle Benavidez, niece of Survivor's Media's cofounders and a victim of violent homicide. With intricate details that capture her spirit and personality, Michelle is shown with a gentle smile and with the words "One face among many in our communities." The mural portrays the wonderful life of a vibrant young woman, the preciousness of life and the tragedy of her untimely death. The powerful message conveyed by the mural served as inspiration for Paula Gardner's work for justice for victims of violent crimes, and also inspired the formation of Survivor's Media, a platform that provides support and resources for survivors of violent crimes.
